General Information About Christmas Eve (Badnje Veče).
There will be a Church Service on Badnje Veče at 7pm subject to changes in English Law on Covid-19 Policy. Please contact Father Žarko Nedić or check details on the Church Website nearer the time.
There will not be an outside fire this year.
The church capacity is limited due to social distancing rules. We cannot presently offer parishioners access to the church hall to socialise. You may access the hall for the limited purposes of using the toilet facilities and making payments in the office.
People need to consider that they may not be able to stay in the church for the full Badnje Veče Service which is about 45 minutes long.
People may be asked to leave the church if the church capacity is reached to allow others to enter. Please do not feel offended if you are asked to leave by a steward who will wear a badge or lanyard of authorisation. We are living through very challenging times.
People will still have access to branches from the tree (Badnjak). Church officials will distribute the branches fairly.
Parishioners will still be able to contribute financially to the church and pay parish dues without physically attending the church, by contacting the people named in the Fundraising Letter on the Church Website.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!
We trust that you and your loved ones are doing well and keeping safe. You have been and continue to be kept in prayer during the past several months. We know that these have been challenging times for all of us and there are still difficult times ahead.
We are pleased to announce that we are open again for regular Sunday worship at 11.00am and we welcome you to join us.
Our Church will look and feel different, as we have to do things differently to conform with government Covid-19 regulations. Our small team of helpers will guide you through this. We would respectfully ask you to maintain social distancing and wear a face covering in Church. You may not be able to stand where you usually do and currently we are not allowed to gather in the Church Hall.
During this time of lockdown, we have been without our usual income from your weekly donations and payment of parish fees, which you would so faithfully and generously give when you attend our services and special celebrations throughout the year. A number of you have been in touch, concerned about the parish finances and asking how you can make contributions to help us pay the bills that are still coming in. This has been a big comfort and support to us.
Obviously, lockdown and furlough measures have brought ongoing financial uncertainty to many of you. It means that some of you are not in a position to make your contributions in the same way as before. That is quite understandable and we hope and pray that more secure times soon return for you and your families.
For those of you that are able to donate to your church and cannot attend in person, please do so via the Church Bank Account, where you can make one off donations or set up a regular standing order. This means that your donation to church would be sent automatically each month from your bank account to the church. We thank you for your consideration of this request.
We are very grateful to our regular donors who use this method and who generously continued to make their donations, even during the lockdown.

Молитвени испраћај патријарха и оца нашег Иринеја

Поводом упокојења Патријарха српског Иринеја света заупокојена Литургија биће служена у недељу, 22. новембра 2020. године, у храму Светог Саве на Врачару са почетком у 9 часова.
Началствоваће Његово Преосвештенство Митрополит дабробосански г. Хризостом уз саслужење више архијереја и свештенства Српске Православне Цркве и гостију из других помесних Православних Цркава. Појаће Прво београдско певачко друштво и хро Бранко из Ниша. Током свете Литургије беседиће Његово Преосвештенство Епсикоп бачки г. Иринеј.
У наставку свете Литургије биће служено опело после кога ће се од блаженоупокојеног патријарха и оца нашег Иринеја беседама опростити старешина Саборног храма Светог архангела Михаила у Београду протојереј-ставрофрор Петар Лукић, Митрополит дабробосански г. Хризостом, председник Републике Србије г. Александар Вучић и српски члан Председништва Босне и Херцеговине г. Милорад Додик.
Патријархово тело биће сахрањено у крипти храма Светог Саве.

Свети Архијерејски Синод обавештава свештенство, монаштво и верни народ да ће се током молитвеног испраћаја блаженопочившег патријарха српског Иринеја, у Саборном храму Светог aрхангела Михаила и у Спомен-храму Светог Саве на Врачару, Српска Православна Црква стриктно придржавати мера које су због тешке епидемиолошке ситуације у нашој земљи прописали наделжни државни органи.
Из тог разлога, обезбеђен је директан пренос на првом програму Радио-телевизије Србије, а Свети Синод позива свештенство и наше вернике да умноже своје личне молитве за покој душе нашег драгог Патријарха.

Помен блаженопочившем Патријарху и оцу нашем Иринеју у Патријаршијском довру у Београду 21. новембра 2020. године служио је Високопреосвећени Митрополит дабробосански г. Хризостом уз саслужење преосвећене господе Епископа шумадијског Јована, крушевачког Давида и нишког Арсенија у молитвеном присуству Преосвећеног Епископа ремезијанског г. Стефана, викара Патријарха српског.
У Саборној цркви у Београду почела је света Литургија поводом Аранђеловдана, славе храма. Пренос можете пратити порталу ТВ Храм на Првом програму РТС и РТС Планети.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej reposed in the Lord

The Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci and Serbian Patriarch (Gavrilovic) reposed in the Lord in the Military Covid Hospital "Karaburma" in Belgrade, on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 7:07 AM.
All other details regarding the funeral of His Holiness the Patriarch will be announced soon.
Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven!
His pious parents Zdravko and MilijanaGavrilovic from the village of Vidova near Cacak - and with them the entire Serbian family - were blessed the by the Lord, on August 27, 1930, with the birth of a male child whose baptismal name was Miroslav.
He finished elementary school in his native village and high school in Cacak and the Theological School in Prizren, Kosovo and Metohia. Thereupon he graduated from the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade.
After completing his military service, he was appointed professor of the Prizren Theological School, but before accepting the appointment he received monastic tonsure in the monastery of Rakovica, n. Rakovica, by the Serbian Patriarch German, receiving the monastic name Irinej, inOctober 1959. On the Holy and Great Friday of the same year, he was ordained a hieromonk in the church of Ruzica, Belgrade.
As professor at the Prizren Theological School, he spent some years at postgraduate studies in Athens. He was appointed principal of the Monastic School in the Ostrog monastery in 1969, from where he returned to Prizren to the position of Principal of that famous Theological School.
It was in 1974 that he was elected Vicar Bishop of the Serbian Patriarch with the title of Bishop of Moravica. He was elected Bishop of Nis in 1975.
Enthronement of Serbian Patriarch Irinej
The act of enthronement of His Holiness Irinej, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci and Serbian Patriarch, was performed on January 23, 2010, during the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in Belgrade’s Cathedral church of Archangel Michael.
The solemn Liturgy was officiated by the elected Serbian Patriarch Irinej with the concelebration of his brothers Bishops, priests and deacons, as well as representatives of the Russian and Greek Churches. Patriarch Irinej was formally enthroned to the ancient throne of the Serbian Patriarchs in the Patriarchate of Pec monastery on 3 October 2010, with participation of the representatives of all sister Orthodox Churches.
Митрополија црногорско-приморска: Саопштење за јавност

Уочи спомена на упокојење Светог Петра Цетињског, јутрос у 8.22 часова, послије примања свете Тајне Причешћа у Клиничком центру Црне Горе, мирно се упокојио у Господу наш блаженопочивши вољени Архипастир.
Митрополит је у болницу примљен 6. октобра ове године због запаљења плућа узрокованог инфекцијом новог коронавируса. Упала плућа је залијечена, а вирусна инфекција престала, што је потврдио и негативни тест, а забиљежено је и званичним љекарским налазом. Опоравак је текао у добром смјеру, али нешто спорије него иначе, што је карактеристично за старије пацијенте.
Митрополитово здравствено стање се погоршало јуче, 29. октобра, када је приликом јутарњег контролног прегледа примијећено да он отежано дише уз бол у грудном кошу. Одмах су урађене све анализе. Снимак је показао да је узрок отежаног дисања и бола појава ваздуха у средогруђу или пнеумомедиастинум, који се често јавља у ситуацијама у којима пацијент има осјетљива плућа због дужине трајања упалног процеса и који су на кисеоничкој терапији дужи период. Та компликација је, на крају, и узроковала овакав исход.
Рано јутрос га је у болници причестио подгорички парох протојереј Бранко Вујачић, а све вријеме његовог болничког лијечења је уз њега био његов келејник јеромонах Јустин Мреновић, сабрат Цетињског манастира.
О његовом упокојењу је обавијештен Свети Архијерејски Синод Српске Православне Цркве.
У међувремену, у братској сагласности свих архијереја са јурисдикцијом у Црној Гори, ријешено је сљедеће:
1. Данас, 30. октобра, у подне треба звонити на парохијским и манастирским храмовима, као и након вечерње службе у храмовима гдје се она служи или у 16 часова гдје се вечерња служба не служи редовно. Послије вечерњих служби треба одржати помен, а свештеници да се обрате пригодним бесједама.
2. Блаженопочивши Митрополит ће данас у току дана бити пренијет на Цетиње и у Цетињском манастиру ће сутрадан, 31. октобра, на празник Светог Петра Цетињског, у 9 часова бити служена света заупокојна Литургија. Истог дана у 13 часова биће свечани испраћај земних остатака Митрополита Амфилохија из Цетињског манастира за Подгорицу, гдје ће бити молитвено дочекане у 14 часова у саборном храму Христовог Васкрсења у Подгорици. У Храму ће бити све до недјеље, 1. новембра, када ће се служити света архијерејска заупокојна Литургија, којом ће началствовати Његова Светост Патријарх српски Иринеј са више архијереја наше Цркве и других помјесних Цркава. Након Литургије ће бити служено опијело и обављена сахрана. Блаженопочивши Митрополит Амфилохије, по сопственој жељи, биће сахрањен у крипти Саборног храма у Подгорици, у гробу који је припремљен
за његовог живота.
3. У суботу, на Лучиндан, 31. октобра, треба опет огласити звона са парохијских и манастирских храмова, и то: послије Литургије (гдје се она служи или у 10 часова, гдје се не служи), у подне и послије вечерње службе (ако се не служи, онда у 16 часова). Након вечерњих служби опет треба одржати помен, а свештеници да се обрате пригодним бесједама.
4. У недељу, 1. новембра, у свим градовима и манастирима гдје је то могуће биће служена света заупокојна Литургија са почетком у 9 часова, након које би био одржан помен новопрестављеном Митрополиту, како би сви који су у немогућности да физички присуствују и на овај начин узели молитвеног учешћа у опијелу и сахрани нашег почившег Владике.
5. Обавјештавамо да ће све до сахране митрополита Амфилохија народ у молитвеном мимоходу моћи да се поклони његовом одру. У данима послије сахране свакодневно ће се служити света Литургија и помени у храмовима, а вјерни народ ће моћи у крипти Саборног храма Христовог Васкрсења да се поклони Митрополитовом гробу.
6. Од државних органа очекујемо њихов допринос како би се достојно испратио један од најугледнијих архијереја ове древне светосавске зетске и црногорске епископије, као и читавог хришћанског свијета. Свјесни цјелокупне здравствене ситуације, али и огромног поштовања које је новопрестављени Митрополит уживао, апелујемо на све учеснике испраћаја да се придржавају свих прописаних здравствених мјера, понашајући се по мудрости Марка Миљанова, јунаштвом бранећи себе од других, а чојством бранећи и чувајући друге од себе.

Biography of Metropolitan Amfilohije (Radovic)

Amfilohije was born Risto Radović (Ристо Радовић) in Bare Radovića in Lower Morača, Kingdom of Yugoslavia (now Montenegro).
He is a descendant of vojvoda Mina Radović who participated in the unification of the Morača region with the Principality of Montenegro in 1820. He studied at St. Sava Seminary and graduated from the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade in 1962. During his time as a seminarian in the late 1950s, Amfilohije knew the great theologian Justin Popović, who infklubnced his thought a great deal. He also studied classical philosophy at the University of Belgrade.
In Paris, Amfilohije studied at the Russian St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute, in Rome at the Pontifical Oriental Institute and in Bern at the Old Catholic Faculty. He completed his postgraduate studies in Bern and Rome, and then moved to Greece where he lived for seven years, took monastic vows and worked as a hieromonk of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Amfiolohije was ordained as hieromonk at the Monastery of St. Gerasimus of Kefalonia in Argostoli, in Greek Province Kefalonia. The day before he had been ordained as hierodeacon by the same Metropolitan of Kefalonia, by whom who had taken monastic vows in 1967. Many times has His Eminence Amfilohije emphasized that Metropolitan Procopius played an important role in his life.
In Athens, he completed his doctoral thesis on Saint Gregory Palamas and earned a doctor of theology degree. After spending one year at Mount Athos, he moved to Paris and worked as a professor at the St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute.
In 1976 he became a docent and later professor of Orthodox catechesis at the Orthodox Faculty of Theology in Belgrade. He is an honorary doctor of the Moscow Theological Academy since 2006 and of the Institute of Theology of the Belarusian State University since 2008, etc.
On 21th July 1968, on the feast of Holy Great-martyr Procopius of The Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church elected him as Bishop of Banat in May 1985.
He was consecrated in the Cathedral Church in Belgrade on 16th June 1985 by the late Serbian Patriarch German with the concelebration of Metropolitan Danilo of Montenegro and the Littoral and Bishops Nikanor of Backa, Hrisostom of Branicevo, Stefan of Zicaa, Sava of Sumadija, Nikolai of Dalmatia, Milutin of Timok, Vasilije of Zvornik and Tuzla, Vasilije of Australia and New Zealand, Jefrem of Banja Luka and Danilo of Marcha. Metropolitan Procopius of Kefalonia was among them as well. Amfilohije’s enthronement took place in Vrsac on 21st July 1985.
By a decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Bishop Amfilohije of Banat was promoted as Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral with a seat in Cetinje in December 1990. On 30th December 1990 the solemn enthronement was performed by Patriarch Pavle of the blessed memory with concelebration of bishops at the Monastery of Cetinje.
Metropolitan Amfilohije spoke Greek, Russian, Italian, German and French. He is a member of the Association of Writers of Serbia and Montenegro.
